Have you just put the wrong type of fuel in a car? was it diesel in a petrol car or petrol in diesel car? Well if you have found yourself in a pickle because you have wrongly filled your vehicle with the wrong fuel, then you’re in the right place to find a solution to your problem. Putting the wrong fuel in a car is a very simple thing to do, especially if you’re in a rush or distracted by something else at the time of filling up your vehicle with fuel.

However, if you follow this simple guide, your vehicle will be back on the road again in no time at all. Firstly, it is important to assess the situation as no mis-fuel situation is the same.
If you have only put in a small amount of the wrong fuel into your vehicle then luckily you can simply fill the remained of the tank with the correct fuel to resolve your problem, if you have put in less than 5% of the full fuel tanks capacity. If it is more than 5% then under no circumstances should it be filled to the top and driven, instead the fuel tank must be drained and the filled with the correct fuel. If less than 5% has been placed in the fuel tank but you did not realise at the time and drove the vehicle before you could top it up with the correct fuel, then you will need the whole system drained and flushed of the wrong fuel before you can add the correct fuel and continue your journey.

If more than 5% has been put into your vehicle, then the vehicle will need to be drained as soon as possible to prevent damage to the engine and its components. Under no circumstances should the vehicle be driven, however, if it has been driven with the wrong fuel then it should be drained and flushed before the new fuel is placed back into the vehicle. If a vehicle has been driven with the wrong fuel inside its fuel tank, then it may have had damage already occurred to the fuel system or engine. The vehicle will need to be checked out to confirm if damage has occurred.
The easiest way to get your vehicle drained and flushed or simply just drained is to call a mobile fuel drain expert company, they will attend your vehicle where it is and drain and/or flush your vehicle on-site saving you from having your car towed to a garage and expensive bills that are associated with this.
We hope our guide has helped you.
